Engine oil keeps the moving parts inside your engine from grinding against each other. Over time it breaks down and fills with dirt, so it stops protecting as well. A fresh oil and filter change is the cheapest way to make an engine last.
Signs it's time
- Your oil change reminder or windshield sticker says it's due
- The oil on the dipstick is low, dark or gritty
- An oil pressure or maintenance light is on
- You tow, idle a lot, or drive gravel roads and short winter trips — all of these count as hard use
What we do
- Drain the old oil and replace the filter
- Refill with the right oil and amount for your engine: conventional, synthetic or diesel
- Multi-point inspection: fluids, belts, hoses, lights, tires and brakes
- Reset the oil life reminder
- Tell you about anything we spot. Nothing extra gets done without your OK.
Your owner's manual lists two schedules: normal and severe. Cold starts, short trips, dusty gravel roads and towing are all severe use, which describes most driving around Rocky. When in doubt, follow the severe schedule.
