Diesel engines are built to work hard, but they need the right care. Newer diesels also have emissions systems — the diesel particulate filter (DPF), EGR valve and DEF system — that cause trouble when they act up. We diagnose and service diesel pickups and work trucks.
Signs it's time
- Hard starting, especially in the cold
- Black, white or blue smoke
- Loss of power, or the truck goes into limp mode
- DEF, DPF or emissions warning on the dash
- Rough idle or knocking
What we do
- Computer diagnostics for engine and emissions faults
- Injector diagnosis and replacement
- DPF, EGR and DEF system repair
- Fuel filters, water separators and oil changes
- Glow plugs and block heaters before winter
Lots of short trips don't give the particulate filter a chance to clean itself out. Get on the highway for 20 minutes or more now and then, and don't ignore a DPF warning — a plugged filter costs far more to fix than a cleaning cycle.
